Panier des Sens: how to scale your content with Omi?

8 nov 2023

💫 “We’ve tripled our growth in 2 years, what can we do to accelerate it with the means of an SME?”* This was the question Noé Feretti asked when he joined Panier des Sens as an eCommerce and Omnichannel Manager. Since adopting Omi, he has significantly increased the ROAS of his ads. Beyond being used for ad campaigns, products are modeled in 3D before their actual release, saving valuable weeks of communication on launches. The solution is also used as an internal Pinterest by the Panier des Sens team, allowing everyone to create environments and place their products while inspiring others.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • 8.62 vs 0.95: ROAS of an OMI ad vs a “lifestyle shooting” ad, 3-week campaign

  • 80 products modeled, 69 in progress of modeling

  • 5 minutes on average: time spent generating a packshot

  • More than 1/3 of all SKUs (200 in total) modeled, soon all of them!

  • 100% of the visuals of the last two Panier des Sens catalogs were produced with Omi

Omi & Me

"I've been at Panier des Sens for a year and a half now. I was hired to develop the eCommerce side. It's a brand that accelerated a lot during the Covid period, especially on the web side, but with a somewhat outdated structure.

We tripled our numbers in 2 years, but we knew we had to structure it to make it last, so we asked ourselves: “What can we do to accelerate and consolidate our growth with the means of an SME”?

The vision of this company — which I love — is to internalize everything, to do as much as possible ourselves on the content side. We had a small studio where we did all the shoots, but after Covid, everyone put pressure on themselves to do more and try new things, myself included.

We quickly encountered a bottleneck: we were in a tight flow for content creation, copying and pasting all our content everywhere, from CRM to ads, and praying that the visual would do the job.

At L’Oréal, where I worked before, we collaborated with 3D studios and we thought we'd look for something similar. However, I had very high costs in mind. I thought we needed to find another solution that would allow us to develop quality content within our budget. That's how we discovered Omi!”

Life with Omi…

Today, I generate my 3D packshots in 5 minutes and create all the content we needed! We created a template with size scales for the product, set the lighting, I just have to place the product I want in my scene, and I generate my visual.

👌 “We no longer need to constantly solicit our Art Director on creative subjects without high added value; it has changed his life!”

Omi, is…

About 80 products modeled! At the beginning of the year, we have a modeling budget and a production budget that we try to separate according to different departments: marketing, digital, and the new beauty brand that's launching.

This year, we planned to accelerate and model 69 products. We've already modeled about twenty and are extending the ranges: packshots are one of our main issues today.

My Greatest Success with Omi: Meta Ads

I’ve tested Omi a lot in ads, in retargeting and acquisition. I tested campaigns by putting homemade lifestyle visuals against product visuals made with Omi.

👌 In almost all cases, in A/B testing, the Omi campaign won.

I’ve integrated Omi at least once in all my retargeting campaigns; for example, we created videos with small travelings and the price displayed.

Then, I reallocated part of my budget to Google Ads, especially Pmax campaigns. These are automatic formats based on your shopping feed (video, display, text ads) where you integrate your content with Google.

Google automates campaigns based on audience touchpoints. They distribute your content throughout the customer acquisition journey. I used Omi, combined with some lifestyle videos, for the two Google campaigns launched. The ROAS is around 3, with 1-day post-click attribution windows.

👌 Omi is a solid foundation in ads for me: we always have a base of 2-3 Omi visuals that I will enrich or complete depending on the platform.

The 3D Visuals I Create Daily with Omi

I use them in my newsletter campaigns, where I create product grids, for example.

We’re building an Omi packshot bank: as soon as our ranges are complete, I will systematize them in eCommerce. We also use them extensively for presentation catalogs for the B2B side.

👌 For our last two catalogs, the products were exclusively Omi!

Omi also allows us to model products before they are released. We need to communicate with our base, so we model in advance to communicate immediately.

My Feedback on the Tool’s Usability

Once we launched Omi, we decided to model our catalog, which is quite extensive, with 200 references. So, we decided to go step by step but immediately open the platform to the entire team. We look for inspiration there. When we create a campaign or a newsletter, we check Omi to see if there have been interesting ideas developed beforehand that could work on the channel in question. Often, we start there!

It’s like an internal Pinterest, but adapted to my product. When you enter Omi, you have your universes, folders organized like portals. We browse through them; we’ve organized the content so everyone can create their universe. There’s Nicolas’s universe—our Art Director—my universe, etc. Everyone looks at each other’s universes! We see Omi as a “sandbox” where everyone in the company can bring their ideas to life—then the marketing and digital teams come and pick products.

My Favorite Scene…

We tested placing the product on a white background and playing with our own backgrounds. I have a great visual in the cherry blossom ambiance for our Cherry Blossom range.

Without Omi, I Would Still Be…

Making poor cutouts on Photoshop myself!

Now, I go to my “Packshot” template, drag my products, generate my visuals—I have my perfect packshot in a second!

👌 Before, the product wasn’t stored in 3D and well-organized in my app; I had to find it in a photo with the wrong lighting and cut it out with the lasso tool. It was… artisanal.

With Omi, I Will…

Create even more eCommerce content! For now, the website is well-stocked; we do all our sliders, cover images, and blog posts with Omi.

On the marketplace side, we haven’t used Omi enough on Amazon, but we will. We’re waiting to have complete ranges on Omi, which is why we’re hurrying to model everything! In April, I’ll brief Omi to model 30 products to have all my liquid soap ranges, for example.

Harmonizing our visuals is key for us: on Amazon, when you go to a product page, you’ll also see all the variations of that product in miniature. We want to have complete ranges.

👌 The basics of eCommerce, especially on Amazon, is to have products that stand out and have an impact. With 3D, it’s much easier. Omi must become the norm in eCommerce for us. Generating great product pages isn’t a creative question; it’s a performance question.

On home-made shoots, when you don't have soft enough lighting or equipment that allows you to play with your contrasts with a bit of finesse, you find it hard to get a decent result. With us, it's very hard to see the contours of the serum on a white background, for example, because the product is white - generally speaking, our products don't stand out at all in eCommerce because they're white.

A final word on Omi!

The discussion we had yesterday with Laurane and David from Omi was that it's almost too perfect! We asked them: "Can we be a little less clean because it's so perfect? We love it! But for lifestyle use, we're thinking about having packs that are a bit more distinctive, to vary the visuals. And what's more, you've told us it's possible, so... it's on?
